What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

Counselling is a process that deals with specific issues that can prevent a person from enjoying life. It is focused on helping you to reach certain goals and on learning different ways to approach problems that may arise. It is about empowering you to reach for your own goals and ultimately results in a better quality of life. It is usually short term dealing mostly with immediate concerns.

What To Expect

Psychotherapy is a deeper developmental journey than counselling and often takes place over a longer period of time. Psychotherapy deals with past issues that are affecting your present behaviour and relationships. Through the process of psychotherapy, you will become more aware of, understand, and ease past issues that may be preventing you from reaching your full potential.

How long is a session?
Counselling and psychotherapy sessions usually take place every week for 50 minutes but can take place more or less often than that.

How much will it cost?
The cost of sessions is based on the individual circumstances of each person and reduced fees may be made available.
